The ** databases are very easy to navigate use a search such as "war of 1812" or "Monroe Doctrine"  and you will open a page with multiple types of sources on the subject. 

Biography in Context is another excellent source search for information by using a person of interest's name in the search bar.  You can search last name or first name first.
