Cold War Project



Cold War Project

This project is a summary project of Cold War events from 1945-1989.   Your assignment is to create a timeline of Cold War events.  You may use PowerPoint, Prezi, Poster etc… to display your information. You must include 6 of the 10 Cold War events below:

Berlin Airlift (1948-1949)

Chinese Communist Revolution (1949)

Korean War (1950-1953)

Vietnam War (1955-1975)

Cuban Revolution (1959)

Creation of the Berlin Wall (1961)

Bay of Pigs Invasion (1961)

Cuban Missile Crisis (1962)

Russians in Afghanistan (1980’s)

Nicaraguan Revolution (1979-1990)

 

·         For each event, please include Who, What, When, Why and Results of the conflict.  Your project must be visually appealing-the use of maps, photos, and pictures are encouraged.  You should work with a partner to complete this assignment. 

·         If you wish to work with 3 or more people, ALL events must be covered. 

·         If you wish to work alone, 4-5 events must be covered.

·         This counts as a TEST GRADE!

Global - Research Project - Mini Historical Investigation - Grade 9

What:  The growth and development of trans-regional trade networks

When:  600C.E. - 1600 C.E.

Where:  Asia, Africa and Europe

Why & How:  To what extent did trans-regional trade networks, like the Silk Road, influence the development of world history?

Using the resources listed below and the print sources made available research and complete the following Plan of Investigation

This investigation seeks to identify the impact of trans-regional trade networks from the period of 600-1600 C.E. The body of the investigation describes the important characteristics of the Silk Road.  The lasting impact of the Silk Road as a trans-regional trade network will be identified, examined and analyzed.  In the conclusion, the information will be summarized, justifying the thesis statement that the trans-regional trade network of The Silk Road had a lasting economic, social and political impact on world history

Biography Project - SUPA

BIOGRAPHY PROJECT - SUPA
For this assignment, each student will receive the name of an individual who made a significant contribution to American society.

Assignment Purposes:
To come to understand how a particular person's experiences can illuminate our understanding of the period or circumstances in which he/she lived.
To learn to do research of the sort professional historians do; locating, examining, and using appropriate source materials, and presenting one's findings to readers.

Assignment:
Biographical Sketch:
a) A factual account of the person's life, emphasizing aspects that are of historical significance.
b) Provide evidence and explanation of the person's historical contribution(s) and significance.
Evidence must be documented with references and citations to sources.
How and why is this person considered to be important?
What does her or his life tell us about the times in which he/she lived; about important social, scientific, cultural, economic, or politicaldevelopments; about the United States at the time?
Anotated Bibliography:
You are to create a list of reliable and relevant sources that illuminate your person's life and contributions. This list should include the sources that you used for this project as well as others that you can identifiy that may be available for research.

Congressional Committee Assignment -

In groups of two, you will research an assigned congressional committee.  The class will examine the roles of committees and subcommittees in Congress.  The following are the areas you must address for the assignment.  This is not an assignment where you need to be creative - just clear and informative.  The more you research, the better your assignment will be.  You can choose to create a Prezi or PPT to present to the class.  Presentation can include video (news clips) and visuals.  This assignment should be divided into the following sections:


List the functions of Legislative Committees


Define the different types of committees:  Standing Committees, Select Committees, Joint Committees & Conference Committees


List the functions of Legislative Subcommittees


Choose two committees from the House and two committees from the Senate
 - answer the following questions for each committee:
